When connecting to endpoints in the UK or Europe, VPN Unlimited was fairly speedy, albeit slightly slower than the ludicrously quick group average in my group test. VPN’s HTTP speed test results compared against group average and connection speed without a VPN VPN clients are tested on their default settings. This testing setup produces results under optimal connection conditions. Decent speeds, but slower than group test averageĪll of my testing was carried out on a virtual desktop physically located at a data centre with a high-speed internet connection in London. However, every device you connect is registered, and once you’ve connected seven, you have to remove an existing device from your account via KeepSolid’s website. A standard subscription allows you to register a maximum of seven devices with your account, and up to five of those can be connected at any given time. There’s also a kill switch to cut off all traffic if the VPN goes down, a run-on start-up setting, and a Trusted Networks whitelist to which you can add specific Wi-Fi networks that won’t prompt the VPN to automatically activate itself. The Wise protocol is built to add obfuscation, making it harder for an outside observer to detect that you’re on a VPN.Īs usual in these tests, I’ve left everything at default settings. KeepSolid now supports the popular WireGuard protocol, alongside its own KeepSolid Wise protocol, OpenVPN and legacy IPSec/IKEv2 for older systems. KeepSolid’s upgraded Windows client takes up less screen real estate than older versions, but still shows you a map indicating your endpoint location, as well as buttons to connect and select your desired endpoint.
